Cars Bearing Russian and Soviet Flags Attacked in Ukraine

Depending on where you get your news from, you may or may not be fully aware of the dramatic and ongoing situation in Ukraine and Russia's annexation of Crimea. Things are far from settled in that part of the world, and as you can see in the following videos, with so much tension in the air, it doesn't take a whole lot for people to explode.

Miniaturists Compress all of Russia into 800 Square Meters of Scale Models

Russia, the country that reduced the number of time zones it ran by from 11 to 9 in 2010, can be compressed into 800 square meters by expert miniaturists with an eye for detail and a (heck of a) lot of time on their hands.

Silly Cops Think They're Immune to Traction Loss on Ice

A couple of young men were having a blast from the comfort, warmth and safety of their apartment looking over a road, as they were filming the ice-packed misfortunes of about half a dozen drivers, possibly, but not surely in Russia.

Car Crashes and Floats Down a River, Driver and Passengers Don't Give Two Hoots About It!

Driving a car on land, floating it down a river; what's the difference when you're completely wasted? Just as long as you can breathe fresh air and enjoy the buzz, it's the same thing…

We had to watch this unbelievable incident twice to make sure what we we're looking at is real. What's more surreal, is the purported conversation between the group of men in the vehicle, which according to Carscoops tipster Robert, went something along the lines of this:

"Oh, we float! Where do we go? I don't know, may be to the shore. Don't steer the wheel, it's useless!" – you don't say Sherlock…

The location of the incident is not mentioned, but if it's not mother Russia, it could be one of the surrounding countries – if you know, do share in the comments.

Shout out to Robert M. for the tip!

So, This is How They Patch Potholes in Russia…

You've surely heard the jokes and seen many funny pictures of stereotyped behaviors of public road maintenance crews – usually, they involve any number of workers standing around and looking at one person doing the job, but that's not the only thing people make fun of.

In this instance, Russians are questioning the actions of these road workers who appear to be randomly (unless they're using some high-tech gadgets and systems other than their shovels to locate and hastily fill specific potholes) laying asphalt in the puddles.

If anyone knows what the guy behind the camera is saying, please do tell in the comments after you watch the following video.

Hats Off to Russia's…Most Impatient and Annoying Driver Ever

Who is this guy you're about to watch in the following videos? Some say he's a brash and inconsiderate Russian driver, and that he loves to prank and imitate Top Gear's television hosts. All we know is that his name is Andrey Rybakin and that you'd never want him to drive behind you on any type of road, street or…sidewalk.

The clip that brought Mr. Rybakin on our Offbeat News radar is a collection of dash-cam videos in which the young Muscovite is filmed breaking more traffic laws than we can count – he even tried to troll a police car…

You can see the video along with a few more that we found on the net, and if you happen to be aware of other noteworthy clips featuring Rybakin, just add them below in the comments box.

I Believe She Missed One…

An unnamed woman in a Suzuki Grand Vitara pitched an almost perfect strike in the early morning hours of Monday when for as-of-yet unknown reasons, she lost control of her SUV running though a concrete median before crashing into four brand new vehicles parked in front of a Lada dealership in the Russian city of Ekaterinburg (also known as Yekaterinburg).

A fifth vehicle seen in the security camera footage parked in the lot escaped unscathed, thus ruining her…automotive strike.

While her insurance rates are bound to hit new highs over the next months, the woman reportedly came out of the car unhurt.

Watch the short clip for yourself right past the virtual jump.

Hoax, Misunderstanding or a Real Life Kidnapper? Take a Look and Tell Us

Just when you start believing that Russian and Eastern European dashcam videos and can't surprise you anymore, something like this happens, and by that, we mean this (possibly) disturbing footage we found on the net.

Filmed in the Belorussian city of Minsk, it shows the passenger of a Suzuki Swift filling up the car at a gas station before he bends down to remove the rear license plates off the car and throw them in the trunk. We would have probably overlooked it if we didn't notice what appear to be a pair of crossed hands lying on the floor…

Is it a kidnapping, a cheeky hoax / viral video or a misunderstanding with the couple simply transferring some mannequin parts? Tell us what you think in the comments.

Lose Your Cool, Lose Your Car…

Whenever you get behind the wheel of a car or on the seat of a motorcycle and hit the road, you just have to be prepared for surprises, some of which you can avoid and others that you cannot. The worst thing you can do when the unexpected happens is to panic.

And panic is exactly what this young Russian driver of an older generation Nissan Micra did when a careless motorist in a white hatch (or small MPV, we can't see clearly from this distance) veered into his lane.

The man lost it and swiveled left and right before crashing into and the…onto the side barrier. Fortunately, both he and his female companion seemed unhurt as they…jumped out of the car that was partially hanging in the air.

Just When You Thought It Was All Over….

A pile up attributed to poor visibility stemming from fog as well as to…a number of drivers not keeping a safe distance from other motorists that occurred on Wednesday in Russia's southern Stavropol region, led to a 20-vehicle accident, including 15 passenger cars, three trucks and two busses.

A vehicle's dash-cam recorded part of the pileup on the Kavkaz highway. Even though the driver of said automobile managed to stop in time before crashing into the cars in front, other motorists weren't as diligent or successful…

One person was hurt in the crash, and had to be hospitalized, albeit with non-life threatening injuries. A video from the pile-up can be found below.

Chevy Driver Tailgating Land Cruiser Fails to See Concrete Median

If you're going to speed and act stupidly on the road, then be prepared for the worst, as there's a very good possibility that you're going to pay the price for it, one way or the other.

In the case of the Russian driver of a Chevrolet sedan who was tailgating a speeding Toyota Land Cruiser in a highway near the city of St. Petersburg, the price was a horrendous crash with a raised median barrier.

The Chevrolet driver looks like he or she tried to squeeze between another car and the Land Cruiser from the right lane, failing to see that the road split in front.

The author of the dash-cam video footage said that the driver and a passenger of the Chevrolet were hospitalized injured, but at least alive.

We tip our hats to Dmitry!

Volgograd Bus Falls Victim to Bombing that Kills Six; Caught on Dash-Cam

The Russian city of Volgograd bore witness to a horrific bus-bombing incident that took place on Monday. Apparently, a 30-year-old female suicide bomber is to blame for the six deaths associated with this tragic case and the twenty-eight wounded of which eight were in serious condition, according to Reuters.

It is a most unfortunate happening, with the blast caught on dash-cam in full gory detail, from a few car lengths behind – we usually end up only seeing the aftermath in situations such as this, never the actual moment.

The footage presented here is shocking, especially when one knows what the outcome ultimately was and that it incurred loss of life.

Sources from Russia have suggested it was an act of terror possibly carried out by Islamist militants from the North Caucasus, who do not approve of Russia’s hosting of the 2014 Winter Olympics, in February of next year, in the popular Sochi resort.

The video lies below, followed by a local news report, in English, via RT.

Get Out Driver, You're Drunk as a Skunk

After observing this video, you could say that even a piece of machinery knows when its operator is completely out of line with far too much booze flowing through his veins and that it's time to put an end to the driving shenanigans.

The car with the dashboard camera was travelling from behind when the driver noticed the truck swerving towards his line and performed the traditional road ritual of horn honking to wake up the operator.

It only worked momentarily, as at the next set of lights, the large dumpster smashed into the rear end of another truck waiting for the green light.

At least this incident had a happy / funny ending, which you can watch in the video below the break.

Nissan GT-R Goliath Allegedly Sets New 1 Mile Top Speed Record at 402km/h or 250mph

Talk about a blazingly fast car – the 1,700hp+ Nissan GT-R Goliath by Switzer, which purportedly set a new top speed record in a 1 mile (1.6 kilometers) run for GT-Rs at the latest Moscow Unlimited 500+ racing event.

According to the organizers, only two other vehicles have surpassed the 400km/h or 250mph mark in a 1 mile run, a "Ford GT at 267mph [430km/h] and a Chevrolet Camaro at 250 mph [402km/h]".

Switzer's heavily modified yet street legal GT-R Goliath reached a speed of 402.23 km/h or 249.987mph in 1 mile after just 22.602 seconds.

The Goliath was made for an unnamed client (likely from Russia) with Switzer stating the following about said car:

"To understand what Goliath is, and how it’s been developed to meet the customer’s wants and needs, however, we need to go back to the early part of 2012 (before Switzer moved into their new facility) and a conversation between Tym and one of Switzer’s early Porsche customers. The client wanted a GTR – but not just any GTR! “The car the client asked us to build had to be ‘for street use’, not just ‘street legal’,” explains Tym. “The difference there is the difference between ‘comfortable’ and ‘tolerable’. He made it very clear that he expected this to be a ‘real car’ with full climate control, cruise control, sound system – all the amenities, in other words. What he did not want a stripped-down drag car that was technically street legal.” He also wanted the car to run a low 20-second ET at the Moscow Unlimited."

This is What Happens When You're in a Hurry

So, you're still pondering why it's not always good idea to rush and push forward in traffic to take a spot up front – especially when you add train and / or tram rails in the equation? Perhaps then, this video can shed some more light upon these situations.

The Russian driver recording the incident from behind with his dashboard camera said that he was actually expecting something to happen – he eloquently stated, "I even thought to myself, here's a goat, and he's driving right into the oncoming tram!".

And true enough, the other driver of the blue-colored Lada thought he could cross the road before the tram arrived and attempted the move stepping on the rails. You can see the result in the following video.

Please Let This Guy Re-Fuel the Car in Front of Me

Have you ever wondered why you see all those "warning" signs posted at gas stations – no, not the ones regarding cell phones, but about the dangers of inhaling those ghastly gasoline and diesel fumes?

Perhaps this video may provide you with some answers on why it's bad to do so in a rather entertaining, albeit admittedly, worrisome kind of way.

The person you need to pay attention to (not that you won't without us telling you…) is the gas station attendant who goes on a wild dancing trip on a customer's Lada station wagon as soon as the driver goes inside to pay and he hears the music from the car waiting in line.

The video awaits you right past the jump.

So Close You Can Almost Feel the Driver's Heart Fail…

There's a reason, or rather scratch that, there are several reasons why passenger car drivers and motorcycle riders have a visible or hidden fear about big trucks on the road. And yes, size and weight has a lot to do with the anxiety people feel when they see these wheeled-monsters approaching them on the highway.

True, your chances of something happening are extremely small, but then again, they're not zero either.

The driver you're about to watch in the following video fits into that small percentage, as well as an even smaller one of motorists involved in an accident with a truck but coming out completely unscathed.

Actually, it's a pretty amazing scene, even though we can almost smell the driver's fear as the truck swayed towards his lane…

This Driver Deserves the Lightning Fast Reflexes Award of the Year…Seriously

When you have to watch a video not once, not twice but multiple times, in HD and on full screen, to have an understanding of what just happened and why the driver reacted the way he did, can you imagine yourself being in this position and only having one go at it?

If you pause the video at the 57 second mark, you might just see a human figure (…with a brain of the size of a fly, may we add) crossing the highway - right after the road lights end, of course, of course…

It's safe to say that, most drivers would have been caught completely off guard and by surprise, having very little or no time to react, but not this man who made an amazing effort and from the looks of it, avoided hitting the foolish pedestrian at his own cost.

See the video below the jump.

Must Watch: When You're Drunk, You Don't Notice Concrete Slabs….

Yay, for the Winter Olympics city of Sochi and drunk Russian drivers who keep us amused for months on end with their antics! We have the sneaking suspicion that one time won't be enough and you'll find yourself pressing the replay or play button of the following video on multiple occasions – we won't blame you, if you do.

You ask why? Well, because it's not every day that you see a driver speeding into a fixed concrete slab destroying a fairly new car.

Eyewitnesses, including the person who happened to film the incident through his dashboard camera stated that the driver of the Chevrolet Orlando minivan had one too many drinks before he sat behind the wheel – you don’t say…

Check it out for yourself in the clip below the virtual break.

Can You Explain These Consecutive Accidents?

Sochi is the Russian city that will play host to the XXII Olympic Winter Games in February 2014. It's also where two odd accidents took place on Thursday. Surveillance cameras captured footage of the crashes that happened very close in time with many commentators believing they're related.

The first incident shows a grey (?) car swerving in and out before crashing into the cement wall on the side of the road. Shortly after, we see a red hatch losing control and veering into the opposite lane crashing into an oncoming vehicle.

Given that both cars seem to have swerved on more or less, the same section, we're suspecting that it has something to do with the road, possibly an oil spill or a bump. What do you think happened? Tell us in the comments below.
