Spied: Mercedes-Benz CLA 45 AMG Gets Roomier with Shooting Brake Version

Perhaps one of the untold reasons why automakers call sporty-styled saloons with slanted rooflines "4-door coupes" is to hint at the restricted coupe-like headroom for rear passengers and to some extent, the luggage area. Mercedes plans to, if not correct; at least improve these shortcomings on the CLA with the introduction of a Shooting Brake model, which is Benz-talk for a stylish estate.

Our Spies Hatch Out New Hyundai i20 with Revealing Interior and Exterior Shots

What we have here are the best spy pictures yet of the next generation Hyundai i20, spotted ahead of its rumored world premiere at the 2014 Paris Motor Show in October.

New 2016 Renault Megane IV Envisioned with Clio and Captur-Inspired Design

After six years in the market and with major competitors like the VW Golf, Ford Focus and Peugeot 308 having introduced newer models, Renault's current, third generation Megane compact series, is slowly approaching the end of the road.

Next-Gen Audi R8 Spied Again on the 'Ring

It must be a rather mind-numbing job working at Audi's design division in recent years, especially if your assignment orbits around replacing or updating existing models and not conceptual or completely new projects.

Spied: Audi Brushes Up A6 with a Tiny Facelift

Looking at the camouflaged A6 pictured here and knowing how Audi's styling department works these days, I imagine one could easily pass these photos for the next generation C8, but it's not; what we have here is an oh, so miniscule facelift for the current model that should be presented before the year's end– possibly in Paris this September.

New 2015 Subaru Outback Spied, Rumored to Debut in New York

Do you know how many Legacy sedans Subaru sold in the Unites States last year? The answer is 42,291 cars. The reason why we mention it is that, during the same period, the Japanese firm sold almost three times as many units of the crossover-flavored version of the Legacy Estate, the Outback, with 118,049 deliveries.

Scoop: Spindle Grille 2014 Lexus CT 200h F-Sport Caught Without Camo

If last month's brochure scans of the mildly updated 2014 CT 200h weren't convincing enough for you, then perhaps these scoop photos of a camouflage-free prototype of Lexus' compact hybrid will do the job.

The model that was captured on camera by our scoop photographers is the more dynamic looking and handling F-Sport edition, which in its refreshed form, features the Lexus brand's now signature pinched grille flowing above the redesigned bumper with a large plastic honeycomb insert and satin silver trim.

The only other noticeable styling changes on this car are the new alloy wheels and the reworked rear bumper with a different diffuser. Similar cosmetic updates should be applied to the regular CT 200h hatchback.

Whether Lexus has also altered the compact model's interior and hybrid powertrain remains unknown at this time.

Look for the 2014MY to make its debut in one of the international motor shows in the following months.

A Speculative View of the BMW M2 Coupe; What Engine Should it Get?

The automotive crowd on internet seems to have warmly embraced the new BMW 2-Series, currently available in coupe form alone, with plenty of skilled hands taking turns on envisioning confirmed or rumored versions of the car, from M2 Convertibles, to regular Cabriolets and M Performance editions.

This design take is for the as-of-yet, unconfirmed, but for a longtime speculated, M2 Coupe, with the artist, Khalil Bouguerra, applying the lessons learned from the forthcoming M4 Coupe and M3 Sedan on the 2-Series body, with bespoke bumpers, skirts, wider fenders, quad tailpipes and a tricked out boot.

If BMW gives the M2 the green light in the near future, what kind of engine do you think it should use?

Some options that quickly come to mind include a high revving and larger displacement four-cylinder (think something like the original M3 E30's 2.3- / 2.5-liter units), a turbocharged 2.0-liter (or with a larger displacement) turbocharged four, and a straight-six turbo – either a modified version of the M235i's 322hp 3.0-liter or perhaps, a smaller displacement variant of the M3/M4's 3.0-liter six.

Whichever engine it chooses, it's almost a given that it will produce much less power than the 424hp (430PS) unit in the M4 and M3. Perhaps BMW should place the emphasis elsewhere creating a limited production CSL version of sorts for the M2, with a smaller displacement engine (preferably a four-cylinder) that takes advantage of significant weight saving measures to create a driver's handling delight. What do you say?

Scoop: Is This The 2014 Nissan Patrol Facelift?

As the sixth generation of the Nissan Patrol (related to the recently renamed Infiniti QX80 which was previously known as the QX) approaches its fourth year in the market, it's only to reasonable to expect that the Japanese company prepares some updates to keep consumer interest high in its flagship SUV.

A member of the Nissan Arabia forums scooped these photos of what appears to be next year's updated version of the Patrol loaded on a transport truck in Dubai.

We only see the parts of the profile and rear end of the large SUV, in which we detected newly designed tail lamps, alloy wheels and possibly side trims.

If this is indeed the lightly revised Patrol, we wouldn't be surprised if Nissan unveils the car at next week's Dubai Motor Show (November 5 to 9).

We tip our hats to Saif for the heads up!

This is What BMW’s 2-Series Convertible Could Look Like Sans Top

The BMW 2-Series has been out for just over two minutes, and it’s already had its top digitally chopped off by the Hungarian automotive photo manipulator at X-Tomi Design. Only one angle is available, showing the rear left three-quarter view of the now topless 2-Series, and if you liked the shape of the coupe, you’ll have no trouble with this new one.

In fact, since the car is not particularly long, being exactly 20 cm / 7.9 in, shorter than a 4-Series (in both wheelbase and overall span), yet standing a bit taller, and having a less steeply raked windscreen, it's not as sleek as the larger model.

However, once the top is stowed away, I think it harks back to the old E30 3-Series (from the rear, at least), and as a prospect promises to be a small, fun drop-top BMW that you’d also want to be seen in - the previous model had the same basic qualities, but it was not visually appealing in any way.

Looking at this picture, which kind of roof would you think would work best for it: a cloth-or a retractable hard-top?

Scoop: First Shots of 2015 Smart ForTwo Wearing Production Outfit

We're no strangers to test mules of the new generation Smart ForTwo, but this is the first time that our spies caught Daimler's small car in its final production form instead of wearing a funny looking collection of body parts over the brand new chassis developed in collaboration with Renault that will use it on the next Twingo.

Smart will utilize a shorter version of the platform for its third generation ForTwo, which while marginally longer and wider than the current model, will continue to be a minicar offering with seating for two people.

The new Fortwo will be instantly recognizable as a Smart, albeit with new styling details and a boxier looking snout resembling that of the ForVision, FourStars and FourJoy concepts.

While we do know that the engine will be positioned at the back driving the rear wheels, neither Smart nor Renault has divulged any information yet on the available (common) powertrains for the next Fortwo and Twingo models. We have heard, however, that there will be a new and smoother operating dual-clutch automatic transmission.

The new Fortwo will break cover next year.

New Porsche Macan Photos Leaked or Photoshop Enhanced?

Not that we don’t know what the new Porsche Macan will look like 95 percent or minus the headlamps and taillights, which are the only pieces of the exterior puzzle missing from the prototypes, but scans purportedly sourced from an upcoming issue of Auto Motor und Sport in which the SUV is compared to its Audi Q5 cousin, are said to show the final product.

But, we're also no strangers to photoshops (minor touch ups or not) being passed on as leaked images (Car&Driver's "We Leak the 2015 Mustang" is the most recent example that comes to mind…), so we're not ready to pop the debut champagne on the Macan just yet.

Until we find more information regarding these scans, feel free to give them a good look in the gallery after the break after we remind you that the Macan's debut is scheduled to take place at next month's LA Auto Show.

Nissan Shares Photos and Video of Camouflaged 2014 Qashqai

The Qashqai crossover is Nissan’s best-selling vehicle in Europe and the Japanese carmaker wants to make sure the all-new model will follow in the footsteps of its successful predecessor. After the teaser photo showing the car under a veil, Nissan has now released photos and a video from the new Qashqai’s development phase that shows the crossover during testing in various conditions and places around the world.

Unfortunately, the car is heavily camouflaged so we don’t get to decrypt its styling. However, Nissan says that in the process of developing the second-generation Qashqai, it has left “no stone unturned”.

According to Nissan, the new model will set "new benchmarks for active safety technologies, driver comfort and refinement, and will rewrite the crossover rulebook"..

It won’t be long before we see what exactly Nissan is talking about, as the all-new Qashqai will be revealed on November 7.

Spied: Jaguar Begins Work on Redesigned XF Saloon

This prototype XF may look similar to the test mules for Jaguar's upcoming BMW 3-Series challenger that has been officially confirmed for a 2015 market launch, but there are differences on the body, with this mule also sporting a slightly longer wheelbase and wider tracks.

As noted by our spy photographers, what it is, is a mule for the redesigned XF that's scheduled for a late 2015 or early 2016 introduction.

The styling at this point remains a mystery, but Jaguar officials have hinted at the use of more aluminum on the next XF (chassis and body panels) to bring down the weight and gain in performance as well as fuel economy numbers and handling.

It is also said that the mid-size luxury model will adopt the Jaguar-Land Rover group's range of four-cylinder engines known as the Hotfire, offered alongside the bigger, more powerful and thirstier V6 and V8 units, in both rear- and all-wheel drive arrangements.
