Bentley, Lamborghini and Mitsubishi Recall Cars for Braking, Clutch Issues

Cars get worn in the more you use them, and over time, new and different problems arise. Bentley and Lamborghini have announced recalls linked to the sheering of steel screws attached to the brake rotor of cars fitted with carbon ceramic disks, that were discovered some time after their launch (i.e. now).

There are ten of them, and the problem gets serious when eight break, which they do because of being exposed to exceedingly salty conditions – so far, though, no more than three breaks per wheel have been reported in either manufacturers’ case.

In the US, Lamborghini is calling back 263 examples of the 2007-2009MY Gallardos (Coupe, Spyder and Superleggera) and another 404 units of the 2006-2010MY Murcielagos in both body styles. Bentley found the problem to be limited to 469 Continental GT and Flying spur models manufactured between 2007-2011.

Finally, there’s Mitsubishi, which has announced the calling to service of 10,474 of its 2008-2013 Lancer EVOs. This time the problem revolves around faulty clutch master cylinders that can malfunction and make shifting out of gear harder. Owner notifications of this last recall begin on November 11.

Carscoops Reader from Down Under Says Happy Halloween with Some Italian Eye Candy

"Hi guys, would you be interested in featuring this as a Halloween special?" was the email we received late last night from our Australian reader Lee. Call us weak-willed, but we're suckers for beautiful and exotic supercars here at Carscoops so we asked Lee to forward us a few more shots of his Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4.

While at a first glance it would appear that the nicely done two-tone exterior with a black body and wheels, with orange accents, was wrapped specially for Halloween, it turns out that this is how Lee ordered the car from Lamborghini.

"The car was ordered from the factory with many unique features and fully optioned," Lee told us in an email.

"I've had a Caballo ECU update which brings it up to 740hp, the Lamborghini exhaust upgrade, carbon fibre pieces on the exterior, optional black wheels, orange calipers, sportivo interior, rear camera, parking sensors, rear badge in orange, multifunction perforated steering wheel, Lamborghini sound hifi option, carbon engine cover, black tyre valve caps, custom floor mat clips with my name on them, I ticked all the options boxes...," he added.

Check out more photos of this black beauty in the gallery past the jump, and if you have any Halloween-themed cars in mind that you would like to share, post them in the comments area.

Thanks to Lee for sharing the pictures!

Lamborghini Aventador Matte Orange-Red Chrome Wrap Will Cost You as Much as a Fiesta

Foil wraps to change the exterior color of your car have become a much more mainstream trend these days, but not all jobs are the same, and neither do they cost the same. Then again, if you can afford a Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4, then you surely can afford not to care to ask about the price.

If you're a curious George, though, learn that this matte orange-red chrome wrap from Germany's Print Tech, starts at €10,000 (approximately US$13,800 at today's currency rates) for the body plus the use of a black brushed look wrap for certain other elements on the car.

This particular client also ticked the boxes for privacy windows (€200 or US$275), glossy black powder coated rims (€1,200 or US$1,650) and a Capristo exhaust system (€1,500 or US$2,100), lifting the total cost of the tune to a paltry €12,900 or US$17,800.

DMC Kits Lamborghini Aventador Roadster Into an SV

German tuner of all things exotic, DMC, claims that it's very selective when it comes to its limited edition of styling packages, and in some cases, it only offers them to existing clients. The same applies to the 'Spezial Version' or 'SV' for the Lamborghini Aventador, of which only 10 will be made available exclusively to current owners of its Molto Veloce kit.

Recently, the tuner completed the only Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 in Roadster guise in the world to feature the SV package and shared the pictures with us.

The car comes with the aggressive looking and protruding on both ends aerodynamic kit with all parts made from visible carbon fiber, while the owner of the car also opted for Dione alloy wheels (20-inch at the front and 21-inch at the rear) covering orange brake calipers.

You can take a better look at the car in the gallery that follows.

Lamborghini's Exotic Veneno Roadster will Take You to 355KM/H or 221MPH Without a Top

Some people collect Vipers (the car or the venomous snake), some collect scale models and no doubt, there is someone, somewhere, who collects hubcaps from vintage Russian vehicles (hey, who are we to judge?). Then there are those extremely fortunate individuals who can afford to collect exotic and supercars from the likes of Lamborghini, which is more than happy to cater to their exclusive needs.

After producing three Veneno coupes, Lamborghini has now announced the release of a permanently open edition of the (street-legal) racing prototype of which only nine cars will be built during the course of 2014, each carrying a pre-tax price of €3.3 million, or about $4.5 million.

What you see in these pictures is what you get as the Veneno Roadster has no protective roof, just a rollover bar for safety. Other than that, it's the same Aventador-based supercar as the Veneno coupe we saw earlier this year, with highlights including a monocoque and a body made entirely from carbon-fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) and carbon-ceramic brake discs.

There's plenty more carbon fiber to be found in the interior of the Roadster, from the central tunnel and the sills to the structure of the lightweight bucket seats.

Lamborghini says it developed the “Rosso Veneno” seen in the (computer rendered?) photos exclusively for the Veneno Roadster, but each customer will be able to "individualize his own vehicle to suit his personal preferences".

The Roadster tips the proverbial scales at 1,490 kilograms (3,278 pounds) with the mid-mounted 6.5-liter V12 thrusting out 740bhp (750PS) for a power-to-weight ratio of 1.99 kg/hp (4.38 lbs/hp). The standard sprint to 100km/h (62mph) is achieved in 2.9 seconds with the car topping out at 355 km/h (221 mph).

New Lamborghini Veneno Roadster will Put a £3.3 Million Dent to Your Bank Account

Lamborghini has released the first photos of the open top version of its limited run Veneno supercar, not through its official channels but….via the UK's Top Gear magazine, which tells us that the Roadster will be permanently open, as it does not come with any kind of roof guaranteeing an "intense driving experience", according to the automaker.

That's the main difference with the "regular" Veneno Coupe, with both versions based on the internals of the Aventador sharing the same 740hp (750PS) 6.5-liter V12 engine paired to a sequential manual gearbox and permanent all-wheel-drive.

Any owners willing to try it out, will discover that the Veneno Roadster can go from zero to 100km/h (62mph) in just 2.9 seconds and hit a top speed of 354km/h (220mph), though, we don't know what that will feel like without any protection from the elements of nature above your head.

It is mentioned that, while Lamborghini offered only three examples of the Veneno coupe for sale, it will produce nine Veneno Roadsters, each priced at around £3.3 million, which comes to US$5.3 million and €3.9 million.

Update: We found better and higher resolution images online that we added below.
