For the better of its history and with only a few exceptions, mainly in the years right after the 1973 OPEC oil embargo crisis, the Corvette has been all about placing high-output V8 engines on lightweight and aggressive looking bodies and chassis. So, aside from its distinct styling, customers expect every Corvette, even the base model, to be wickedly fast, and GM seems to be delivering.
But how does the new C7 compare to the outgoing Corvette C6 in terms of outright acceleration? That's something the crew at ThatRacingChannel (TRC) set to find out with an…illicit sprint race on a public road.
The 2014 Corvette Stingray is said to be bone stock (likely with the Z51 package, judging from the rear spoiler) while its predecessor is a Corvette C6 with the Z51 package and some light mods, including a different intake and exhaust system.
