Toyo Tires Previews Unique Booth Vehicles for 2013 SEMA Show

Toyo Tires will display more than 20 vehicles at this year’s SEMA Show in Las Vegas. With three locations in the Las Vegas Convention Center, the company will have a larger presence than ever.

The main Toyo Tires booth located on the first floor of the South Hall will include Baja Champion BJ Baldwin's Chevrolet trophy truck equipped with Toyo Open Country M/T-R tires, suspended in air over the Liberty Walk Nissan GT-R.

The 600+ horsepower GT-R features a CSDadjustable suspension with Platinum VIP-coil overs, an LB Performance Works wide body kit and 20-inch Forgiato wheels shod with Toyo Proxes R888 Rcompound DOT competition tires.

Another special exhibit will be the RWB (RAUH-Welt-Begriff) Porsche 930. The car is owned by RWB founder and renowned Porsche tuner Akira Nakai of Japan. The 930 features and RWB wide body kit, KW coil over suspension, Recaro racing seats, Takata harnesses and Work New Mesh 18-inch wheels shod with Toyo Proxes R888 tires.

Also making it debut is the all-wheel-drive Kontrabrands 2014 Lexus IS built by Gordon Ting. The urban road machine resembles a competition touring car and features a TRD five piece aero kit, massive Brembo brakes, a Sparco interior and Toyo Proxes T1 Sport tires.

The 2014 Corvette Stingray could not be ignored, so the Toyo Tires main display will feature the P58 Concept Stringray by Michigan-based design house TZD. The 580hp show car sports a TZD aero package, carbon fiber motorsports-style rear wing plus 20-inch front and 21-inch rear Vossen Monoblock wheels with Proxes T1R ultrahigh performance tires.

Classic vehicle lovers will notice the 1969 Ford Bronco built by ASC. Owned by actor Tony Besson, the SUV features a lift kit, 33-inch Toyo Open Country M/T tires for off-road and a 351 Windsor engine. There will also be a 1969 Camaro called “Lou's Change”, which has been built by V8 Speed & Resto.

Nissan GT-R Goliath Allegedly Sets New 1 Mile Top Speed Record at 402km/h or 250mph

Talk about a blazingly fast car – the 1,700hp+ Nissan GT-R Goliath by Switzer, which purportedly set a new top speed record in a 1 mile (1.6 kilometers) run for GT-Rs at the latest Moscow Unlimited 500+ racing event.

According to the organizers, only two other vehicles have surpassed the 400km/h or 250mph mark in a 1 mile run, a "Ford GT at 267mph [430km/h] and a Chevrolet Camaro at 250 mph [402km/h]".

Switzer's heavily modified yet street legal GT-R Goliath reached a speed of 402.23 km/h or 249.987mph in 1 mile after just 22.602 seconds.

The Goliath was made for an unnamed client (likely from Russia) with Switzer stating the following about said car:

"To understand what Goliath is, and how it’s been developed to meet the customer’s wants and needs, however, we need to go back to the early part of 2012 (before Switzer moved into their new facility) and a conversation between Tym and one of Switzer’s early Porsche customers. The client wanted a GTR – but not just any GTR! “The car the client asked us to build had to be ‘for street use’, not just ‘street legal’,” explains Tym. “The difference there is the difference between ‘comfortable’ and ‘tolerable’. He made it very clear that he expected this to be a ‘real car’ with full climate control, cruise control, sound system – all the amenities, in other words. What he did not want a stripped-down drag car that was technically street legal.” He also wanted the car to run a low 20-second ET at the Moscow Unlimited."

Spied: Nissan Shuts Down the 'Ring to Test 2014 GT-R NISMO

We've known for a while now that Nissan is preparing the most track-focused, but still completely street-legal, edition of the GT-R under its growing portfolio of NISMO-branded special models.

It was also made known via UK magazine Autocar that former Formula 1 driver Sébastien Buemi would be the chief development test driver for the 2014 GT-R Nismo and that he would attempt to break the GT-R's previous official record time of 7:18.6 set at the Nürburgring in 2012, which placed it in ninth place in the list.

And it just so happened that last week, Nissan rented the Nordschleife for itself and had a prototype of the 2014 NISMO GT-R running around the track. We learned about it from the crew over at BridgeofGantry, who took a video of the GT-R tester driven hard on the circuit.

We still don't know if these were preliminary test runs or if Nissan actually aimed to break the record, but we gather that it won't be long before we find out.

How Does the New Corvette Stingray Stack Up Against the Competition on the Track?

Talk about milking it to the very last drop… Oh, yes, it's another one of Edmunds' videos on the new 2014 Corvette Stingray that supposedly comes to wrap up (though, we wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't…) the individual tests it performed against a variety of sports cars, regardless of price or if they're direct competitors in the eyes and pockets of consumers.

The online news site brought together all six challengers, including the SRT Viper, Nissan GT-R Track Edition, Porsche 911 Carrera S, Porsche Cayman S, Ford Shelby GT500 and the now discontinued BMW M3 Coupe, to the Willow Springs International Raceway, which is about an hour away from Los Angeles, to see how the Corvette C7 stands up to them.

We know what you're thinking, but the Stingray wasn't the fastest car on the track; can you guess which one was? To find the answer, click play on the following video.

Poll: Which One is the Prettiest, the Acura NSX or Nissan GT-R?

Suffice it to say, the two greatest sports cars to come out of the Land of the Rising Sun in the past quarter century, are the Honda / Acura NSX and the Nissan GT-R. Seeing both parked side by side at the recent Boston Cup car show was pure bliss and we just had to take some shots and share them with you.

If you grew up in the 1990s, then you can most certainly relate to the sentiments expressed for the original Acura / Honda NSX, which remained in production for 15 years, from 1990 to 2005 - a pretty impressive feat for any vehicle, let alone a mid-engined sports car.

The yellow NSX at the Boston Common is a 2002 model, which was the year Honda applied a refresh that included the replacement of the original pop-up headlamps with fixed xenon HID units and changes to the wheels and suspension. Power came from a 3.2-liter naturally-aspirated V6 churning out 290hp (294PS).

If you're old enough to read these lines, then you should know everything there is to know about Japan's modern supercar fighter, the Nissan GT-R. It doesn't have its engine in the middle, but it packs enough grunt to scare anything from a raging bull to a wild stallion.

This particular GT-R with the cheeky GTRRR license plates is a 2012 Black Edition, meaning it blends a 530HP twin-turbo'd 3.8-liter V6 with a bag of other performance and styling goods such as improved aerodynamics, bespoke wheels and interior upgrades.

After gazing at the two cars, it becomes quickly obvious that they're very different beasts; whereas the NSX is what we'd call the Bruce Lee of Japanese sports cars, the GT-R is more akin to a pissed off Mike Tyson.

At 183.9 in (4,671 mm) long, 74.9 in (1,902 mm) wide and 54.0 in (1,372 mm) tall, the GT-R trumps the NSX in size, as the latter is 174.2 inches (4,425 mm) long, 71.3 inches (1,810 mm) wide and 46.1 inches tall (1,170 mm).

We initially wanted to include a single poll about which one is the prettiest in your opinion, but we decided to add another one asking which of the two would you take home if some kind and generous soul offered it to you (yeah, right…). You can answer both questions in the poll and the comments below.
