How Far Can the Lamborghini Aventador Coupe and Roadster Jump?

One of the worst moments of being an automotive journalist testing an exotic supercar that you probably can't afford unless your name starts with 'Jeremy' and ends in 'Clarkson' is the dreaded moment that you have to hand over the keys to a coworker, or even worse, the company that you borrowed it from.

But hey, the emotional pain may actually be worth it if you can get away with things that you'd likely never attempt if you owned it, like, let's say, see how far it can jump at speed…

Trying to steal some of TG's (yes, the show everyone loves to hate) thunder, Autocar magazine and Steve Sutcliffe took a Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 Coupe and its roadster sibling, "booked a private test track, called in the slo-mo camera crew and set a series of light-hearted challenges for our intrepid supercar pairing", with the first challenge being which one can jump the furthest.

Check out the outcome for yourself in the video below the…jump.

Alleged Gold Digger Prank Shows That a Drop-Top Lambo Can Change a Girl’s Mind

So, there’s this video that claims to be a prank aimed at showing female gold diggers at work. What the crew behind it does is wait at the top of some steps for an attractive young girl to walk up, and then out of the blue ask her out to dinner. Her reaction is gauged before and after the male protagonist, and the main prank stager, shows her he’s driving a convertible Lamborghini Gallardo.

To be frank, I'm personally sick and tired of the propagation of the “women are gold diggersstereotype and I'd like to say that gender has nothing to do with digging for gold, and that this hurtful view does nothing to constructively improve the situation.

I'm not saying there aren’t women who adopt this tactic to skip the stages of their ascent through the social ranks and amass wealth without working, but men do it just as much and just as tactfully, but they have to adopt a different tactic given the specific social climate associated with each sex – it’s not a trait of women,  it’s a trait of people, and the aforementioned social constraints just mean their way of doing it is the more visible of the two…

Back to the video, what do you think; is it fake, staged or just full of crap? The comments section is yours.

Ferruccio Lamborghini’s 700HP V12-Powered Sports Boat Brought Back to Life [w/Videos]

Almost half a century ago or 45 years to be precise, Ferruccio Lamborghini, the founder of the Italian sports car manufacturer, commissioned a sports boat to luxury boat manufacturer Riva.

Built in three months, the Riva Aquarama Lamborghini was no ordinary boat; it was powered by two Lamborghini V12 engines each developing 350 hp. The Italian industrialist owned the boat until his death in 1993, with no one knowing what happened to it ever since.

That is, until a Dutch collector tracked it down and had it fully restored to its original condition by Riva World, a company specializing in the restoration of Riva boats. Work on the project began in 2010, and now the boat has been brought back to its original condition.

The boat’s wooden hull was repaired and sanded, with no fewer than 25 coatings being applied. The wooden interior was repaired as well and the seats were reupholstered in the famous Riva design. On top of that, all buttons and switches were disassembled, repaired and reinstalled. But the most important and difficult part of the restoration regarded the engines.

The boat originally had two Lamborghini V12 engines from the brand’s first production model, the 350 GT. “One of the two original engines from the Riva can still be seen in the Ferruccio Lamborghini Museum in Italy, but unfortunately wasn’t available for sale for this project,” said Sandro Zani, Riva World owner.

The company found two identical V12 engines and converted them for boat use. Interestingly, one of the engines rotates to the left and the other to the right, to increase torque at low speeds. The two 4.0-liter V12 units each develop 350hp and are equipped with six twin Weber carburetors. They have a rev range between 700 and 5,000 rpm, with much of the torque being available from around 1,500 rpm.

The Riva Aquarama Lamborghini has a top speed of around 48 knots (89 km/h), compared to 40 knots (74 km/h) for regular Aquaramas fitted with twin V8 units as standard.

Santa Claus Chills Out with Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 Roadster

Like many other companies these festive days, Italian supercar-maker Lamborghini is also embracing the Christmas spirit with a video that focuses on Santa Claus.
We meet the man in the red suit chilling out in a bar in the North Pole on Christmas Eve at 6:30 PM ordering multiple milkshakes with no intention to leave. The clock ticks pass 10 PM, but Santa shows no desire to stop drinking milkshakes, much to the dismay of the grumpy barman.

DMC Applies J Speedster Looks on Limited Run Lamborghini Aventador LP900 SV

If you have a heart that beats strongly inside you, then you must have felt something about Lamborghini's €2.1 million Aventador J Speedster that was presented at this year's Geneva motor show.
However, wanting and being able to obtain the roofless Aventador J Speedster are two different things. Even if you could afford it, Lamborghini only built one specimen that was sold to an unnamed buyer even before we laid our eyes on the car.

Lamborghini Tells us the End is Approaching for the Gallardo with a Video

In a few weeks from now, the most commercially successful Lamborghini model of all times with more than 10,000 worldwide sales, will enter its 10th year of production, which the Italian carmaker says will be the last for the current Gallardo.
Lamborghini made the announcement through a two minute-long film that takes us for a short trip to the Gallardo's birthplace, while also releasing a special webpage where customers can place their orders for the revamped 2013MY LP 560-4 models and which contains the following statement

Refreshed Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 Makes its Debut at the Paris Auto Show

It may not look like it, but when the Gallardo was first launched in 2003, its direct rival was the Ferrari 360.
While Maranello has since launched two new models to compete with the "raging bull", the Sant’ Agata-based supercar maker has simply responded by refreshing the Gallardo and presenting numerous special edition versions.
This practice proved quite successful, as with nearly 13,000 units sold to date, the "baby Lambo" is the brand's best-selling model ever.

The Aftermath of Utah Man's Lamborghini Murcielago Roadster Crash [Videos]

David Dopp earned his fifteen minutes of fame (or is that shame?) after he trashed a $380,000 Lamborghini Murcielago Roadster, only six-hours after he received the keys to the Italian supercar that he had won in a Maverik "Joe Schmo to Lambo" contest.
The story has been making headlines all over the world this week, and now we have some video footage of the aftermath from KSL and CNN.

Utah Man Wins Lamborghini Murcielago in Contest, Crashes it 6 Hours Later [Videos]

There are many reasons why only rich people buy supercars: it’s not just the price but the cost of living with, or repairing, one. It’s a risk any second-hand car buyer is taking, as our earlier story about a HUGE Ferrari F355 engine repair bill proves.
On the other hand, if someone actually offered you a supercar, let’s say a Lamborghini, for free would you actually turn it down? Of course not; you’d just grab the keys, buckle up in the driver’s seat and fire up the engine.
Well, that’s exactly what happened to David Dopp, a 34-year old truck driver living in Santaquin, a town of 9,000 residents near Salt Lake City, Utah. He won a US$358,000 Lamborghini Murcielago Roadster in a “Joe Schmo to Lambo” contest that was sponsored by Maverik convenience stores.
