The all-new Smart ForTwo and ForFour minicars will share up to 70 percent of their components with the new Renault Twingo that was unveiled at the Geneva Auto Show. However, Smart claims that their models will bear no resemblance to the French city car. The ForTwo will retain its iconic shape, while the ForFour will be inspired by the Fourjoy concept car.

The last time we heard about the Renault-Caterham partnership, things weren’t going really well. Since the project to jointly develop a sports car started in 2012, progress was delayed by Renault’s decision to revise the initial design of its upcoming Alpine sports car. The next-iteration of the Porsche Boxster and Cayman sports car will receive a four-cylinder boxer engine, Porsche CEO Matthias Müller disclosed. In an interview with Germany’s Auto Motor und Sport magazine published on March 20, the executive said future Porsche road cars will receive four-cylinder engines, just like the company’s 919 Hybrid endurance racer.

They launched the 12C (born MP4 dash), then took their time developing the unique and much-anticipated P1, only to then idle production of the first model, release another more powerful one based on it (but with a P1 face) and now we learn that they are looking at a new flagship, powered by a Honda hybrid system.

Bentley has announced that its Crewe headquarters will become the center of excellence for the Volkswagen Group for all W12 engine production from the end of 2014 onwards. Around 100 new jobs will be created because of this decision.

Mercedes’ compact car plant in Kecskemét, Hungary will soon work at full capacity as the carmaker has announced the addition of a third shift in May. The plant builds the CLA four-door coupe and the B-Class and complements the Rastatt facility in Germany, where the A-Class, B-Class and GLA are assembled. The Rastatt plant has been operating in three-shift mode since October 2012.
